New national guidelines for the control of legionnaires' disease in Ireland

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has recently published national guidelines for the control of legionnaires' disease in Ireland. These guidelines are an update on the national legionellosis guidelines originally published by HPSC in 2002. The recommendations in these guidelines are based on a review of international literature, expert opinion and an extensive consultation process with relevant professionals. They provide advice on identifying and assessing the potential risks associated with Legionella in various environments and how to prevent and manage the risks. The guidelines are available here.
