Washer-Disinfector Testing to HTM 2030/HTM 01

Reusable equipment in hospitals are subject to stringent cleaning procedures using specially formulated chemical agents to achieve removal of soil and disinfection. The HTM2030 standard covers the testing of Washer Disinfectors for surgical instruments including endoscopes to ensure that they are operating correctly.

The effectiveness of the procedures used is verified by periodic testing, both of the equipment in use and of the final rinse water, where a failure could lead to renewed contamination of the equipment.

Health Technical Memorandum HTM 2030/HTM 01 includes the validation and verification of washer-disinfector processes at individual hospital sites.

SMS Environmental is able to carry out the periodic testing of the various types of washer disinfectors used in hospitals, laboratories and other healthcare facilities for compliance with the parameters set out in HTM 2030/HTM 01.

The testing parameters include:-

SMS Environmental staff will visit the hospital at a pre-arranged convenient time for all annual, quarterly and weekly HTM 2030/HTM 01 tests.

Alternativly hospital staff can be trained to perform the weekly sampling where SMS Environmental will provide all the consumables and transportation of the samples.
